Comic Book Monogram

I love making my own wall art.  Not only is it way less expensive than purchasing it from a store but, to me, it also makes my place a little more homey.  When a friend of mine asked me to teach her how to Mod Podge a week ago, I decided to use that time to work on a monogram for my dining room.
I was inspired by a combination of projects on Pinterest.  http://pinterest.com/pin/25825397833789495/using Mod Podge on the monogram it’s self and

I wanted to do something to represent both my husband and myself but didn’t want to use photographs.  I already have a ton of photographs in my place so adding anymore may be borderline narcissistic.  I decided I thought it would be fun, instead of using something like scrapbook paper or fabric to pull from mine and the hubster’s nerdy roots and use comic book pages.
(yes, I used Buffy the Vampire Slayer comics)

When it’s finished the letter will be mounted on black canvas and will be an actual monogram with mine and the hubster’s initials on either side of our S.  In hind sight, I should have painted the S before I mod podged it but this was a learning experience and I will know for next time.
