Make Up and Cosmetics/Shop Eyes Lips Face
I have been using ELF products for years, and they are my go to make up brand for every day use. A long time ago ELF was the $1 make up that you could buy online only. The selection wasn't fabulous but...HELLO...makeup for $1!! ELF has seriously evolved since those days and come out with 3 different lines of products mineral, studio, and essential. The essential line is the old $1 line with some newer $2 products available. The Studio line is actually my favorite and where I buy most of products. A couple of weeks ago I ordered some new items and wanted to share them :-)
All of these are new products for me...
I am not new to the world of using a make up primer. Usually it comes in the form of a moisturizer because, quite honestly, primers are really expensive. I struggle with larger pores so I think using any product that is going to help minimize the appearance of those pores is always a good idea. I'm also starting to develop fine lines around my eyes and my forehead and a primer is supposed to help conceal those imperfections, so I'm always in the market to try a new one. The mineral infused face primer from ELF is appealing because it's only $6 and most of the reviews on the ELF website are pretty positive.
The packaging claims that the product fills in fine lines and pores for a flawless, airbrushed appearance. It is packaged in a smallish bottle with a pump applicator. You don't get a huge amount of product, but luckily you don't need a lot so it will last you a while.
The product it's self, in the formula I chose, is a clear gel. I mainly use cream products on my face so I was interested in trying a gel. To be totally honest, I'm not crazy about this product. If you read the reviews for the product you know that you have to let it dry on your face after you put it on before you continue with your make up routine. I did that and, for me, it turned oily on my skin. There are plenty of people on the website and all over YouTube that sing the praises of this primer so it could definitely be that it did not mesh well with my skin type, but I definitely do not think that I will repurchase this product for future use.
The next item I purchased I absolutely love! It is the Translucent Matifying powder.
I love this powder!! I have a hard time finding a powder that isn't too heavy for my face and that matches my skin tone because I am so pale. This powder is really light so my face doesn't get cakey and because it's translucent, I don't have a hard time blending it into my skin.
It's packaged with a little application sponge which I am actually using more than I thought I would. The compact is thin with a really wide mirror. I toss it in my bag and carry it with me during the day for touch ups. It's the best powder I have ever used and it works wonderfully with the other item I purchased, the studio blush in Blushing Rose
This blush is gorgeous. It's the perfect shade of mauve with some tiny gold shimmers. The picture below really doesn't do the blush justice because of my flash, it makes the shimmer a lot more apparent than it actually is
I'm not big with glitter on my face, but the shimmers in this blush actually give more of a glowy/dewy look which I think is perfect for the upcoming Spring season. It's a color that can really work with any skin tone because it's not too pink or too red but a really pretty muted mauve color. It pairs really well with a neutral pink lip for work or a deeper red lip for an evening look. I love how versatile this blush is. ELF has really improved on their blushes over the years. Their essential line blushes are okay, but to me the color pay off on these blushes isn't nearly as good as the studio line. The blush and the powder are only $3 each which is a steal for how good these products are.
